Aloha!  This is my first attempt at a holiday tutorial.  There are so many out there on YouTube and different beauty blogs that I couldn't help myself but to do my very first holiday tutorial that isn't connect to some sort of contest. (Yay!! 10 points for me!)

This is the look that I came up:

I used yellow, gold, green, red, blue, and silver for the eyes; and plum and pink on my lips.  Because it's Christmas I thought rosy cheeks would be great so I used a little bit of 'gleeful' by MAC on my cheeks and softened it out with 'style' (also by MAC).

I definitely am pleasantly surprised with the way this look came out and would definitely wear this out (with a minor adjustment on my winged eyeliner... I got a little carried away there..hehehe).

Deformity = Love?

  Today was no different from every Monday since August 2011, I spent my day volunteering at the Hawaii Island Humane Society.  What was different though was the beautiful American Bully that was hidden away from the public in the surgery room.  Beautiful sky blue eyes, pristine white coat with a couple of brown spots on his back...he was a site to see.  Why wouldn't such a beautiful be placed for adoption?  He was born with extremely saddening birth defects: his entire lower extremities from the hips down were developed but his hips are facing down inabling to walk.  All he can do is drag his legs behind him; and, to make matters worse, both of his front are clubbed and he's partially blind.

  Undoubtedly he will be one of the few whose life was only spared because someone cared enough to try and keep him alive and healthy that he made it thus far...at least 8 weeks old.  What I loved most was his spirit.  Although he has trouble moving around, he doesn't let that get him down and he keeps trying to move and play.

  It just really revived the humane compassion hidden in people's spirits that someone tried so hard for so long to try and save the little guy.  I have renewed faith in people that despite the way the economy is going and the state of most peoples lives, they still have a heart and are able to show some love and care to others (both people and species).

12/17/11 CVS Pahoa Couponing

Here's the goodies I snagged from the CVS here in Pahoa, HI.  I had originally intended to go in and pick up my husbands prescriptions, but since they weren't ready I decided to walk around and see what goodies they had.  Binders in tow, I merrily strolled down the aisles and I was pleasantly surprised at these goodies.

The Bausch & Lomb Soothe Night Time eye ointment were on clearance for $1.25 (original price: $12.99).  Of course, I wasn't about to pay for them so I happily took out my $4 off of 1 coupon.  Yay! Two free products already!

The glycerin was purely an impulse buy because I use this stuff for my Halloween gel that I make and use as a prosthetic (I will definitely have a tutorial on that as the season comes back around!).  At $1.29 a bottle for the CVS brand, I couldn't pass it up so I bought the last two.  Here in Hawaii, these easily get up to $8 or so a bottle at even our "friendly Hilo Walmart".

A dear friend of mine is having a baby shower in January and, although I've been accumulating gifts I think she'll find most useful, I was surprised that they still had the Aveeno baby shampoo and baby bath on sale for $3.25.  I used the $3 off any 2 Aveeno items coupon and got both bottles for $3.50.

After all coupons I paid a little over $6 for everything!  Not a bad couponing day here in Hawaii...especially since it was unplanned!

    This is the limited edition "Winter Wonderland Sweets Collection" featuring 6 beautiful colors each named after a favorite holiday treat: Candy Cane (a beautiful snow white color with purple/pink iridescent shimmers and micro glitters), Candy Apple (a rich red/burgundy color with tiny flecks of gold sparkles), Caramel Apple (a beautiful duo-chrome color with brown and green hues), Gingerbread (a beautiful brown with a hint of sparkle), Sugar Plum* (beautiful purple shadow has just a hint of gold and silver sparkle), and Pumpkin Pie (an almost metallic blend of rich copper and orange).

How much product do I receive?
Each sample ordered from us will be shipped in a "Clam" jar - or snap shut sample jar.  The samples will include 0.5g or 1/8 of a teaspoon.

A Full Sized Jar when ordered will be shipped in a 5 gram jar with lid (sifters are not included as we found it to be a pain in the butt when using - rather then an assistant).  The full sized jars will include 4.0g of product and the jar will be full.  All shadows come with their own unique texture and feel - therefore, some eyeshadows may fill a jar to the rim - where others may look like they have a little less.  But each eyeshadow jar with product is weighed to ensure that you are receiving the same amount of product each time.

Hawaii Island Humane Society-Keaau Shelter

The number of animals this little shelter takes in on a monthly basis is astounding, especially considering that it only manages the east side of the island.  Their numbers last month were well over 1,000!
That' 1,000+ animals that this non-profit organization took in, fed, medicated, housed, and tried to find homes (if they were healthy enough and had a good temperament).

I've spent my summer thus far volunteering on a rather regular basis and have been able to see first hand the wonderful efforts they put forward in all that they do, and they keep trying no matter how daunting the task, with the knowledge that they can't save every animal.  They are all true angels, and I'm glad to have the honor to work with them all.
